    Outlook allows users to add other users to the Calendar. However, recently, the users have reported an issue with the Outlook meeting and location option after adding a new user to an existing meeting. When you add new users to an existing meeting and try to send updates only to added or deleted attendees, the Outlook Meeting location is missing.

    Why the Outlook meeting location is missing for attendees that are added later? You can fix this by repairing the Outlook Client. This should deal with an obvious bug (confirmed by Microsoft). If that doesn’t help, repair the Outlook Data file and restart the client.

    • 1. Repair Outlook Client

    Microsoft offers an inbuilt troubleshooter to fix Microsoft Office suite related issues. Since the Outlook also comes as the part of Microsoft Office, try to run the repair option to resolve the error. Here is how to do it:

  • Close the Outlook client and other Office applications if running.
  • Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
  • Type control and press OK to open Control Panel.
  • Now, go to Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Select your Microsoft Office client and click on Change button on top. When the User Account Control prompts for the permission, click Yes.

  • Select the Quick Repair option and click on the Repair button.  This option fixes the most issues quickly without the need for an internet connection.

  • Select Online Repair option if the Quick Repair option did not work. This option performs a deep scan but requires an internet connection.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions in case asked to apply any fixes.

    • Reboot the system. Launch Outlook client and confirm that you can send the notification and the calendar is preserving the meeting location data.

    2. Repair Outlook Data File

    The Inbox Repair tool can help you with repairing the Outlook data file in case the issue is occurring due to a missing data file or corruption. The tool checks the Outlook data files on your computer to see if they are in good condition.  Here is how to do it.

    Locate the Data Files Location 

  • In the Outlook client, click on File > Account Settings. 
  • Select “Account Settings” from the option.

  • Go the Data Files tab and note down the Outlook data file location. It should look something like:
    C    :UsersusernameDocumentsOutlook Files

    • Run Inbox Repair Tool

  • Exit Outlook and other Office applications if running.
  • Open File Explorer and navigate to the following location.
    C:\Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeRoot
  • Now, click on the version of the Microsoft Office folder installed on your system. In this case, it is Office16.

  • Locate SCANPST.Exe file and run it. It will open Microsoft Office Inbox Repair tool
  • Click on the Browse button and navigate to the Outlook Data Files location. Select the Outlook Data File and click Open.
