We recently reported that Gmail would soon get a series of interesting new improvements and features. It will get a new design for enhanced user experience and some new features including the ability to snooze emails and make them appear later at the user’s choice, a Smart Replay functionality for each of the emails and also offline support. Gmail for web will also allow easy access to G Suite apps such as Google Calendar from within Gmail. Now, more new features surface and show us that Google is seriously considering changing the Gmail experience quite a lot.
More confidentiality in Gmail
Google is also working to enhance confidentiality in Gmail by allowing users to set a pin for their emails. The pin will be able to be sent via text messages, or it can also be generated by an app. It will secure the email in such a way that only the owner will be able to see it. We can’t say that this is tremendously helpful or useful for users of personal mail, but we assume that the target is another. Businesses and enterprises who are relying on Gmail will find this feature more than useful, and it’s probably aimed at such an audience anyway.
More privacy enhancements coming to Outlook as well
Microsoft is also including a similar feature to the one Google is working on to its Outlook.com service. It will consist of the ability to restrict emails, and this new feature will also be targeted at businesses that want and require enhanced control over the way that emails are used by recipients. On the other hand, these new features will not stop people from taking a picture or a screenshot of an email, but privacy online comes with certain limits.
Google confirmed that this new update would reach users soon and there will also be an official message to an early access program that will become available shortly. It’s likely that all the new features included in Gmail and its new design will be revealed during Google I/O developer conference which starts May 8th.
